Heal Thyself.

Massage. Chiropractic work. Yoga. Physical Therapy. Stretching. Acupuncture. Corrective Exercise. Trigger Point Therapy. MAT. The list of activities we can participate in, the variety of healing modalities (and combinations of them) we can utilize is endless. But they're only tools. No treatment done TO the human body is ever going to be more effective than the 'treatment' done BY the body on itself. As such, the above treatments, when used effectively, aren't … [Read more...]

What “I Believe . . . “

Christopher Warden's Beliefs . . . Circa 2008

Have you ever experienced a situation where you "knew what you wanted," but when asked point blank, "What do you want?" you couldn't find the answer? Couldn't even list a single thing? How 'bout "knowing what you believe," but when asked directly, "What do you believe?" you stared blankly into space. . . not even the smallest response to be found? What's going on here?  I can understand an athlete training herself to withstand the physical punishment from practice and competition.  And the average individual training to increase … [Read more...]

What Activities Induce Cardiovascular Training?

Overheard yesterday while I was training on the gym floor: Client: "What do I need to do for cardio training?" Trainer: "If you're lifting weights, you need to be able to sustain activity for a minimum of 20, 30, 40 or 50 (!!) repetitions. If you're lifting and can't do more than 10 repetitions, it's not cardio. The activity has to be sustainable. If you're on a treadmill, you need to be able to exercise for 30-45 minutes for it to be considered 'cardiovascular training.'" I guess I'll … [Read more...]

Dr. Michael Eades Does It Again.

Dr. Eades and his wife, Dr. Mary Dan Eades, are on a mission to bring healthier lives to individuals who suffer from weight-related issues. Michael prolifically contributes to his blog and I thought you would enjoy one of his latest (great) entries: "Fisking Repovich and Peterson." Drs. Repovich and Peterson aimed to shed some light on the "Top 10 Nutrition Myths" at a recent summit held by The American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Eades, in his words, found it necessary to "debunk … [Read more...]
